BOYS VARSITY
Our Boys Varsity program began in the Fall of 1997. We ended our very first season with a record of 11 wins, 11 losses. Since that initial year, the Eagles have an overall record of 135 wins and 106 losses. We participate in the MOCAL conference. Our league has been very competitive over the years. Gahanna Christian has placed 2nd, 5 times, in the 2000-01, 2002-03, 2003-04, 2004-05, and 2006-07 seasons. The Eagles are looking forward to another competitive season in the 2008-2009 campaign, as we return five seniors from last year's squad; Ryan Parsons, Jared Sauder, Nick Thomas, Daniel Chi, and Seth Moore.

Gahanna Christian has not been limited to playing teams in Central Ohio. For ten years we competed in the Cougar Classic Tournament in Covingtonn, KY. In addition, two of our "away" games were played in Cleveland, OH, at the Gund Arena, home of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Eagles have had several All-Conference and All-District players. In 2005, Brandon Crawford set a conference mark by scoring 87 points in two games. For his efforts, he was named the Columbus Dispatch "Athlete of the Week." In addition, two of our former team members are in the 1,000 point club; Josh Fothergill (1997-2001) and all-time leading scorer Robert Balawajder (1999-2003.)

GIRLS VARSITY

The 2009/2010 season for the girls program was very successful in many ways. Led by All State, All District and MOCAL player of the year, Alissa Kirk (17 ppg, 11.5 rpg), the team finished the season tied for third in the conference and ended the year at 11-10. It was a season of runs, as the team had a streak of 6 wins in a row, followed by a streak of 5 losses, but then finished strong, and advanced to the district semi-finals where they were beaten by the eventual state champion, Harvest Prep.

Known for their fighting spirit and never die attitude the Lady Eagles played hard each and every minute and competed in every contest this season, losing close hard fought battles to Fairfield Christian and Tree of Life along the way.

The team loses seniors Kirk, Amanda Spring, Katie Jugan, Deb Tadesse (honorable mention All MOCAL) and Ashley Garrett to graduation. Returning are Freshmen point guard Christina Grubich (honorable mention All MOCAL), forward Alex Sutton (2nd Team All MOCAL) and forward Hope Leimbach, along with sophomore guards Aliyah Hatcher and Mariesa Heath. The coaching staff also expects incoming freshmen post Trinity Hunter and forward Erin Chatman to battle for minutes as well.

Open Gyms start April 13th and run every Tuesday from 7:30-9:00, until the end of the school year.
