Summer Reading Program
The Language Arts department in the Middle/High School wants students to enjoy a great book (or two) during summer break. In preparation for the new school year, and to help ensure that no skills are lost, we have developed a summer reading program for students entering the sixth through twelfth grades. Students need to enhance their understanding of literature by reading texts that represent a variety of authors, styles, cultures and eras. The books were chosen to be age and grade level appropriate, entertaining, enjoyable, and based on students' need to read about and discuss books from a Christian perspective.
Carefully read and take notes on the book(s). The students should be completely finished reading the book(s) by the first day of school. They will be discussed and written about during the first few weeks back to school in English class. In grades 6-8 there is one required book. In high school grade 9-12 there are two required books (AP students have five summer books and others that will be required reading throughout the year).
